I, for one, will be sticking with the more leisurely strolls.
One of the notable features of Irvine Regional Park is the large, picturesque lake. This spot is perfect for picnicking, fishing, and paddle boating.
For families with children, there are several attractions within the park, including a small zoo known as the Orange County Zoo, where guests can learn about local wildlife. In addition, the park hosts train rides that offer a unique way to see the area, especially enjoyable for younger visitors. The train is wheelchair accessible.
Irvine Regional Park also provides ample picnic areas equipped with tables and BBQ grills, making it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors. The various shaded spots allow for comfortable dining in warm weather.

Knott's Berry Farm

One of the most fun things to do in OC is visit Knotts Berry Farm. Knott's Berry Farm, located in Buena Park, California, is a well-known theme park that combines thrilling rides, family-friendly attractions, and jam. Yes, jam. Originally established in the 1920s as a berry farm and a small roadside stand, the park has since evolved into a popular destination drawing millions of visitors each year.
The park features a variety of themed areas, including the Old West Ghost Town, Camp Snoopy with its Peanuts characters, and the Boardwalk, which offers a range of rides and games. Signature attractions include roller coasters like GhostRider and Silver Bullet, as well as family-oriented rides such as the Timberline Twister.
In addition to the rides, Knott's Berry Farm is known for its live entertainment, featuring shows that highlight music, comedy, and seasonal celebrations. Culinary offerings celebrate the park's origins, with the famous boysenberry pie and other berry-based dishes available throughout the park.
Visitors can experience seasonal events as well, including Knott's Scary Farm during Halloween and Merry Farm during the winter holiday season. The park also offers various accommodations and dining options.

Wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles (ECVs) may be used during your visit to Knott’s Berry Farm, and you are welcome to bring your own. They are available for rent inside Ghost Town at the Stroller Shop, on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of vehicles may also be rented in advance on their website. Along with the rental fee, a deposit will be charged at the park which will be returned at the end of your day when you return the vehicle.
Wheelchairs can be accommodated in all restaurants, gift shops, games, arcades, and restrooms. ECVs with canopies or other attachments are not permitted on lifts to attractions. A wheelchair will be provided at those locations.
For those guests who choose to rent an ECV Knott’s requires the guest to be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license. A safe speed must be maintained while traveling, and double riding is not permitted.

The park's coastline features beautiful sandy beaches perfect for sunbathing, picnicking, and tide pooling. The area is also a popular spot for surfing and swimming, although it is essential to be mindful of the ocean conditions. For a more relaxed experience, visitors can explore the unique marine life in the tide pools during low tide.
History enthusiasts will appreciate the park's historic district, which includes a collection of vintage cottages built in the 1920s and 1930s. These cottages add charm and character to the area.
Accessibility: The Los Trancos parking lot features an ADA Accessible shuttle stop, including regulation ramps that lead to nearby restrooms. The Beachcomber Café shuttle ferries visitors across the busy Pacific Coast Highway and into the Crystal Cove Historic District. The shuttle is ADA-accessible and can transport wheelchairs, making an otherwise challenging journey easier for park visitors.
Crystal Cove Conservancy has proudly worked in partnership with the California Coastal Conservancy to provide all-terrain beach wheelchairs, located adjacent to the Historic District Visitors Center, to make all areas of the park and beach accessible for everyone. Use of the wheelchairs requires no reservations or fees and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Crystal Cove Beach Cottages has dedicated specific ADA cottages for guests with disabilities. Guests with ADA license plates, parking placards, or disabled veteran license plates are able to reserve these cottages.

South Coast Plaza, located in Costa Mesa, California, is one of the largest and most prestigious shopping destinations in the United States. Naturally, as a Jersey girl and former mallrat, I was drawn here like a mosquito to a flame.
Renowned for its expansive collection of luxury and contemporary retail stores, the mall features more than 250 shops, including high-end brands such as Chanel, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.
Aside from retail, South Coast Plaza is also a cultural hub. The center is adjacent to the South Coast Repertory Theatre and the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, which hosts a variety of performances, including ballet, concerts, and Broadway shows.

In addition to shopping and dining, Irvine Spectrum Center hosts various entertainment options. The center is home to a state-of-the-art movie theater, as well as attractions such as a Ferris wheel and arcade games. Bunnyhenge

Bunnyhenge is an odd yet captivating art installation featuring 14 white bunnies arranged in a circle with two larger 8-foot bunnies standing watch. Located in Newport Beach, Bunnyhenge sits stoically watching over City Hall.
The park features several other sculptures, but Bunnyhenge is the clear highlight.
If you’re looking for quirky things to do in O.C. it doesn’t get more quirky than Bunnyhenge. In fact, this little outdoor sculpture park is one of my favorite places to see in Orange County.

14. Museums Of Santa Ana
Santa Ana, located in Orange County, California, boasts a diverse cultural scene with several notable museums that reflect its rich history.
Bowers Museum
One of the most prominent museums in Santa Ana is the Bowers Museum, renowned for its extensive collections of Native American and California history artifacts. The museum frequently hosts rotating exhibitions focused on art from around the world, including significant pieces from China, Africa, and the Pacific Islands. Visitors can explore the beautifully designed galleries and enjoy educational programs that cater to all ages.
Accessibility: All areas of the Bowers Museum are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs may be requested at the time of your visit from the security officer at the Museum's entrance.

Discovery Cube Orange County
Though primarily a science museum, Discovery Cube also incorporates elements of natural history and environmental education. Accessibility: All areas of the museum are wheelchair accessible.
The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA)
OCMA, while located on the fringes of Santa Ana in nearby Newport Beach, often collaborates with local entities to showcase contemporary art exhibitions. The museum focuses on modern and contemporary works, highlighting both emerging artists and established figures. Although its main campus is not in Santa Ana, it plays a significant part in the area's artistic landscape.
Accessibility: Museum galleries, program spaces, the Fueling Station, Shop, Café and Bar, and the Upper Plaza are all accessible for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers. Accessible restrooms are located on all floors. Visit the Welcome Desk in the Lobby to request a wheelchair for your visit free of charge. Note that not all interior doors are equipped with power assist.
The Heritage Museum of Orange County
The Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving the historical heritage of Orange County. It features several historical buildings and exhibits that portray the region's agricultural history, as well as its various cultural influences. The centerpiece of the museum, which covers nearly 12 acres in all, is a historic plaza featuring several buildings from the 1890s set amidst extensive floral gardens and citrus groves. The museum emphasizes hands-on experiences, offering workshops and events that engage the community in the preservation of local history.
Accessibility: The Museum property is almost 12 acres and much of it is a natural area with varied terrain such as dirt, gravel, mulch, wood chips, etc that may be difficult for persons utilizing wheelchairs. The areas surrounding the main historic courtyard and wedding pavilion/gazebo are paved with ramps where possible, but the main thoroughfare between buildings is hard-packed dirt that can be muddy after rains. The historic Kellogg House has a wheelchair ramp leading to the front door, but the 2nd floor is only accessible via a set of stairs.
Newport Beach Pier

Mission San Juan Capistrano is one of the most significant missions in the state's history. Founded in 1776 by Spanish Franciscan missionaries, it served as a key mission in the chain of 21 established along California’s coast. The mission is often referred to as the "Jewel of the Missions" due to its beautiful architecture and rich history.
The mission was named after Saint John of Capistrano, an Italian Franciscan who played a vital role in the Counter-Reformation. It was initially intended to convert the local Native American population, the Acjachemen people, to Christianity and assist them in adopting European agricultural practices.
Over the years, Mission San Juan Capistrano has undergone numerous changes and restorations, particularly after suffering damage during the earthquake of 1812. The iconic Serra Chapel, which is the oldest standing structure in California built by European settlers, remains a focal point for visitors.

Accessibility: Mission grounds are rough and irregular. Due to the historic nature of the site, some areas and museum rooms are not wheelchair accessible including the eighteenth-century South Wing. Humpback whales can be seen from about mid-April to mid-December, while blue whales, the largest animals on the planet, are commonly sighted from June to September.

These experienced operators are knowledgeable about local whale species and marine life. Tours usually last between two to four hours, with many offering amenities like snacks, beverages, and restrooms.
