Cool Restaurants In Barcelona
If you’re looking for the best food in Barcelona, you’ve come to the right place. On my recent trip to Barcelona, I was on a foodie quest. After putting in a ton of research and reading all the top food critics and website reviews I had made a list of food I simply had to try.
During my stay I managed to eat at some pretty cool restaurants in Barcelona and enjoyed a variety of tapas, seafood, and Catalan cuisine. The restaurants in this city wowed me with their incredible flavors, relative affordability, and stunning ambiance.
In this post, I’ll share with you my favorite dishes and my picks for the best restaurants in Barcelona, Spain. My recommendations cover everything from low key breakfast and brunch spots to five star fine dining for dinner. This list has something for everyone, including those of you who are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free.
Read on for the best restaurants Barcelona has to offer!
Teatro Kitchen and Bar
Teatro offers a theatrical presentation of some of the best food in Barcelona. Upon entering Teatro you’re given tickets then escorted to a table for their open kitchen dining experience. Teatro serves up mouth watering tapas in 5 acts cooked by a team with Michelin dining pedigrees.
Diners are offered the opportunity for an a la carte dining experience or a “surprise show” in which the chef selects a tasting menu based on your tastes and preferences.
We elected to do an a la carte experience as there were dishes we were simply dying to try. Some of my favorite dishes were the Yellowtail fish “aguachile” & chips, the Arabian lamb tacos, and the pork jowl saam with “anticuchera” sauce. It’s recommended you order 7-10 of their small plate dishes meant for sharing. Each dish was truly outstanding and presented with an artful flair.
At the end of the show you’re offered the opportunity to go “Backstage”, an adjoining cocktail bar that’s the perfect place to wrap up your night. I highly recommend it as their drinks are also mind blowingly creative and positively delicious.

2. Maleducat
Maleducat is the creation of chef Victor Ródenas and brothers Ignasi and Marc García. The restaurant offers a take on a simple Catalan casa de menjars (house of food). The dishes are made of fresh, seasonal ingredients. Maleducat has a brief but varied menu that’s sure to satisfy. And for those with more adventurous palates, there are daily specials depending on the season and market.
Menu highlights are Bluefin red tuna tartare, smoked egg yolk, miso and pickles, Traditional Catalan noodles with Iberian pork rib, cod tripe and mushrooms, and Pluma of Iberian pork, fine garlic crème, roasted red pepper, watercress and mustards.

Guests can select from pizzas like sobrasada, Mahón cheese, wild fennel, honey, and mozzarella, or Cantabrian anchovy with escarole and Kalamata olive puree.

4. Sensato
Every great restaurant list needs a killer sushi place and Sensato is my pick for Barcelona. Chef Ryuta Sato opened this tiny sushi bar with just eight seats specializing in premium omakase. The only downside, you’ll definitely need to score reservations well in advance given the tiny space.

5. Benzina
I was a bit reticent to try Italian food in Barcelona given the many great Spanish restaurants I wanted to try in my short time in the city, but the word of mouth was just too good when it came to Benzina. I’m so glad I did give it a try because it was hands down one of the best meals I had during my stay.
Owner Badr Bennis and head chef Nicola Valle were inspired by the creative Italian restaurants in New York. The restaurant is housed in a former auto repair shop, in the Sant Antoni neighborhood, hence the name Benzina, which is Italian for gasoline.
Benzina serves a menu of updated Italian classics, incorporating international influences, and non-traditional ingredients. Our stand out dishes were burrata, pea salad, morels in sauce, with croutons, spaghetti quadrati alla carbonara, guanciale, parmigiano reggiano 24 months, pecorino, egg, and linguine aglio, olio, peperoncino, lobster, avocado, cardamom oil.
We were so stuffed we couldn’t even think of dessert, but our waiter teased that he would have it delivered to our hotel later. I seriously loved this place.

6. El Sortidors Del Parlament
Located on the restaurant-rich street of Carrer del Parlament, El Sortidors Del Parlament is a classic-meets-modern bodega. 7. Suculent
Suculent’s tasting menus are out of this world. They also offer an a la carte menu if you’d like to pick and choose your own dishes from their incredible list. It’s a favorite among chefs and tops every best-of-Barcelona food list. Suculent specializes in Catalan comfort food with influences from Asia and Latin America. Dishes change with the seasons, but highlights include Marseme peas with pods jus, Iberian pork jowl, and oysters, beetroot with “beurre blanc” sauce, smoked eel and tarragon oil, and crispy suckling pig with its juice and pickles. …My mouth is watering just typing this.

9. Can Fisher
For the absolute best rice, fish, and seafood dishes, head to Can Fisher. It’s hands down one of the best places to eat in Barcelona. The beautiful beach setting reminded me of my Southern California home and the food was some of the best I had during my stay in Spain. Fresh fish are caught daily and presented to you for your selection at the table.
We ordered the steak tartare, marrow, and toasted bread with smoked butter, the creamy rice with morels, shredded sausage, and Iberian bacon, and the Mediterranean red tuna, gordal olives, chargrilled pickled onion, and smoked pickled vinaigrette. Everything was positively mind-blowing. I was also impressed with the gluten-free bread I had substituted for my steak tartare. Bread really is better in Europe, including gluten free bread.
Can Fisher has a cool and fresh atmosphere, offering an informal setting on a terrace with incredible views of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by plants and flowers. If you’re looking for one of the best restaurants in Barcelona with a view, it’s hard to beat the sparkling blue Mediterranean.
Another highlight was their white wine sangria, a delicious fruity blend delivered in a massive pitcher.
