Prague is one of my favorite places on Earth, but fair warning, it’s considered only moderately accessible for wheelchair users. It’s also one of those great European cities paved almost entirely in ankle-breaking cobblestone. So if you’re hyper-mobile or walk with a cane like me, the city becomes decidedly less walkable and decidedly more hobble-able with copious breaks. But it is one of the most beautiful cities on Earth, and as such, I wanted to include a blog post about making a somewhat difficult place a little easier to navigate. So, grab a pork sausage and a pilsner and get ready to read all about Prague, the fifth most visited city in Europe, and the number one place in beer consumption!
Read MoreThis would be easy enough. On July 4th I would fly twelve and a half hours from Los Angeles to Shenyang, China, have a 3 hour layover, then board the two hour flight from Shenyang to Beijing, where I would spend the night in a hotel by the airport, get up the next morning, meet the dogs at airport check in, and deliver them all to San Francisco. It was a good plan. …Except that’s not how it went at all.
Read MoreRoatan is an island off the coast of mainland Honduras, it has a much lower crime rate, it’s largely English speaking, it’s smack dab in the middle of the second largest coral reef in the world, and there are direct flights from Houston, New York, and Miami. Read MoreI love Belize. A lot. But it’s the one country that’s tried to kill me on more than one occasion. Still, its blood lust has not diminished my love for the place and its people. Read MoreBeijing was my first solo trip abroad. It took a lot to overcome my fear of traveling alone, but life is too short to sit back waiting for other people to buy a ticket to your dreams. Get out there and live! The reward is worth fighting through the discomfort.
Read Moreeven though I had been living with considerable pain for a decade, I tried not to talk about it. I didn't want coworkers, boyfriends, friends or even strangers thinking I was weak, whiny, or otherwise sick. I kept thinking that if only doctors could figure out what I had, they could cure it, and I could move on to enjoying my success and traveling the world. But faced with the new found knowledge that what I had didn't have a cure, and that it could actually get exponentially worse, I made the choice to really buckle down and see as much of the world as possible before my health seriously deteriorated.
Read MoreMy travel adventures began six years ago in Beijing, China. Now how does a chronically ill, broke, introvert with social anxiety and no experience traveling end up alone in Beijing, China? In all honesty, it wasn't that I had some burning desire to see China in particular. I simply wanted to visit every country in the world, and China seemed like as good a place as any to begin.
